The Gentle Undoing is built from real stories and real people.

Our team is made up of people who understand rebuilding, because we’ve lived it.

As a team, we aim to create content that showcases what it means to rebuild. We demonstrate both the good and bad with many different phases of healing. We aim to reach out and be connected with others who have gone through a major life change to hear their stories to make The Gentle Undoing encapsulate a community voice.

Meet the Team

Louise Pham

Founder + Creative Director

I was diagnosed with cancer in my twenties, and like many young people, I went through it trying to make sense of a world that suddenly felt unfamiliar. After treatment, I learned that survivorship comes with its own challenges - the exhaustion, the identity shifts, the grief for who you were, and the pressure to “bounce back.” Sharing my story was the first thing that helped me feel less alone. It grounded me, connected me, and reminded me that vulnerability has power. Over time, I realised that so many others were carrying these untold stories too.

I created The Gentle Undoing because I wanted a space where our experiences could be seen and held with care. This project was born from navigating illness in my twenties and realising how lonely healing can feel. A space where people could share their truth without needing to perform strength or minimise their pain. A space where healing could be slow, layered, and honest. My work blends lived experience, storytelling, and my background as an occupational therapist.

Alice Penberthy

Community + Operations Lead

I feel deeply connected to The Gentle Undoing as when I was 11, my sister passed away from cancer. This experience led me to suppress feelings surrounding grief for years, and it wasn’t until my father passed away when I was 18 that I realised I didn’t want to live in fear of pain and suppression anymore. Since then, I have made an active effort to healing through advocacy, connection, and being honest with myself.

Therefore, The Gentle Undoing connects me to who I am now; healing, authentic and ready to make a change in the space where individuals feel lost. Through the media produced, I feel that we can provide resources, support or comfort to the people who are similar to my 11 year old self who didn’t know where to start healing.

The Gentle Undoing reminds me that it’s okay if you’re not okay, and that through connection and support, we can grow around our pain, and navigate back to ourselves again.
